Tapping Into Your Highly Powered Brain
picture our brains as Formula One race cars, yes, they have the ability to generate so much thinking at such high speed that is beyond our imagination.
I bet you’ve heard the story that our brains are not fully utilized, not even by the great Einstein. Most of us do not have the knowledge of tapping more resource from our brains. There are some reasons why this is so.
-Pure laziness. Some know how to work on the brain muscles but are simply too lazy or don’t have the discipline to do what’s required.
-No, I don’t believe it. Some people don’t believe the huge potential of the human brain.
-They are not expose to the information of creating a highly optimized brain.
Below are the 7 techniques of creating your own powerful mind. Each of them will multiply the effects of the others. You will be amazed by how easy and powerful they are. Setting and achieving goals will be much easier for you.
1) Relaxation
Stress is a healthy feedback for the human body to start working or have different perceptions regarding an issue. However, too much stress will blind the person’s ability to perform at his normal level. So, sometimes, it’s better to take a chill pill instead of continuing to exert yourself. This prevents you to burn out, anxious or fatigue.
Set a time for yourself daily to relax yourself. The recommended time will be around 10-11pm before you sleep. Listen to soothing music or meditate. If you are working a highly stressful job, have more breaks in between and probably 10-15min of relaxation time.
You can also do some light exercise, like jogging, if your job limits your physical body to the desk. Do something different from your daily routine, if your job involves a lot of thinking, think of absolutely nothing when you are relaxing. Just concentrate on breathing while meditating and focus on nothing else.
Make it part of your life, have a time allocated for your relaxation.
2) Visualization
When we are more relaxed, anything that we want to try out will seem much easier. Visualization is another powerful technique when combined with relaxation.
There was a test done before on the power of visualization. Three different groups of individuals are to shoot basketballs from the free throw line. They were amateurs and not trained in it at all.
Group A was scheduled for training 4 times per week, each time they shoot for 100 baskets. For Group B, the trainees were taught only to picture shooting the basketballs in their minds, the same quantity as well, 4 times per week, 100 baskets each time. Group C is the combination of both, the players were to train physically as well as visualizing it.
Group A improved by 60%, Group B- 55% Group C-75% I can’t remember the real results but I remember the people who done nothing but only visualizing it had great improvement in their results as well. That’s how powerful visualization is.
So, how do you do a proper visualization?
When you are in a total relaxed state, start by picturing in your mind about the object or event. For example, you want to get an ‘A’ for your examination. Engage your five senses, feel as if you have achieved the ‘A’, see your friends surrounding you, congratulating you, and hear your own laughter because you are so elated for achieving your goal.
Keep repeating the same set of picture or movie frame in your mind daily, make it more lifelike every time you do a visualization. This doesn’t mean that you don’t do your homework though! Take control of the mental pictures, see what you want to accomplish instead of what you fear. Your mind will help you create the picture in reality!
3) Auto Suggestion
Also known as self talk, it’s one of the simplest techniques. As the name suggests, it’s just talking to yourself again and again. Some people may find this technique boring after a while because they just don’t get the idea of repeating the same thing over and over again, for some this method may not be suitable for you.
You can start off by looking yourself into the mirror, say something very positive, maybe like, “you’re a genius!” into the mirror. Don’t worry if people are looking or teasing at you, you are doing a serious exercise. After a while, say it out loud to yourself whenever you wish to.
“I feel so good going to work because…” (List maybe 5 good things about your job)
“I am more creative day by day and I have lots of money making ideas in me ready to explode!”
Come up with your own sentences and the main thing is to sincerely believe in what you say. Don’t just merely reading out the words, it won’t work.
4) Goal Setting
This is another technique that is often heard. But it’s actually merely a part of our survival mechanism. All living things have their own set of survival mechanisms, to fend off predators, to easily scout or hunt for food. Human beings, often being regarded as the most superior living thing on Earth, have the absolute control of their own future, unlike other animals.
We have the ability to think, to set goals that improves our lives and be the captains of our own lives. However, sadly, most people tend to act according to the scripts of others and end up having meaningless or mundane lives.
Our highly powered brains have the ability to take us to the success that we dream of. However, we need to give it the clear orders and persistence to act on it before change takes place. Set SMART goals, specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and timely. Goals that excite you, motivates you so strongly that you are willing to go through any obstacles to pursue that dream of yours.
Set a goal that you truly believe in, a goal that makes you really happy but not a goal that is far fetched and just to please others. It has to be YOUR OWN goal.
Create higher level of goals when you’ve achieved your existing ones, always aim for the bigger sky when you are flying high. Be an eagle and soar freely. Feel it like a game when in pursuit of your goals, reward yourself when you achieve your goals on time.
5) Whole Brain Thinking
Most of us have one side of our brains dominant, mostly the ride side. Left sided dominant people tend to be more logical while the right sided ones tend to be more intuitive. High performers are able to tap into both sides of the brain, also called whole brained thinkers.
They are able to create detailed planning as well as seeing the same thing with a different set of perspective. They are able to control their emotions while working and at the same time, being creative and think outside of the box.
Writers, artists use more of their right sided brain while business owners, managers tend to use more of their left sided brain. The key thing is to be able to use both sides of them and be a balanced thinker. This way, you will be able to create maximum efficiency for your efforts.
Don’t waste the godsend gift, use both sides of your brain. Always stop and think for a while given any situation, try to practice using the analytical side of it as well as the intuitive part of it.
6) Humor. What? Is that a joke?
What is life without a little laughter around? What is a journey towards success if it’s boring, sad or lonely? Success is a journey not a destination, the reward is the journey itself.
You will notice that high performers love their jobs and they are really passionate about what they are doing. Because to them, they are not working, they are merely playing a game. Find a suitable profession or start a business that you really enjoy. Don’t become a slave of money. There are much more beautiful things in life, money is simply a tool to get what you want.
Having a great sense of humor enables you to see things at a whole new different level. Every problem becomes a challenge. Every failure is a lesson. And learn not to take things too seriously. While their humor increases, their abilities at work and relationships with people becomes better as well.
Learn to smile more, laugh more and view life as a joyful game instead of a struggle. Enjoy your game now as you live.
